"Hey, got a bible question for you. My bro and gf going to Guangzhou, so I asked him to visit
temples, pagoda and all, for the scenery and all. But they reckon bible says cannot go such places. Whats ur opinion? Have you come across it?" quoted from a friend......can you help with it?
Thanks hens.....
Hi Lean,
ReplyDeleteVisiting to such places for purely architectural purposes, i presume, would not be against biblical concepts. However, if one were to dwell deeper within them, in terms of principles, concepts, idolizing them, etc, then it would be a big no no. If you were to ask me, then i would advise not to visit such places at all.
First, the spiritual realm is deadly real. We cannot assume the spirits there will not "attack" us or anything along those lines. Second, it is not edifying to visit such places anyway. It does not inspire you to serve God more, or evangelise more, isn't it? Third, though this whole visit may be subjective from person to person, but still, for spiritual & safety's sake, try to avoid visiting them... unless really necessary, or purely for tour/visiting.
Photos may or may not be taken, depending on location & type & purpose. Do not take photos of idols, etc, as it may "invite" these spirits in & may be a form of idolatry.
do you have any specific verses for it??? i came across one....but i am at office now lah.....so....i will msg you and check with you if that verse applies.......
ReplyDeletethanks.... :):):)
